What is included in the price? Our standard wedding price includes choice of three canapés (average of six per person), bread and butter on the tables, a starter or pudding, a main course (either plated or feast-style, with sides), tea and coffee and evening food. Please note all of our prices are inclusive of VAT.
Are there any additional costs? Depending on the day of the week you choose, each day has a set guest number included in our wedding price. If you want additional guests above this set guest number you will need to pay for them. Additional day guests in 2027 are £120 each, and or 2028 additional guests are priced at £130pp.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions? Yes, we have an extended vegetarian and vegan menu, and where possible, we can adapt dishes for gluten and lactose intolerances. Once you have your dietaries back – just let us know and we can go through each one with you to make sure all your guests’ needs are covered.
Can we have few options for our guests to choose from? Unfortunately, as we are not like a restaurant, we ask that all guests have the same selection (aside from dietaries). The beauty of our menu is that you can pick three sharing starters, so guests can choose what they like from the options shared down the table. If you are worried about what your guests might like, then we would suggest choosing a sharing main, with three sides, as it gives a great amount of flexibility for what guests can choose to put on their plate.
Can I try the food ahead of my wedding? Yes! We run seasonal tasting sessions for £60pp, including wine pairings, and we recommend couples come along to try the food during the season that their wedding falls in. In addition to this, we run other foodie nights to try the canapés, steak and chips, and evening food options throughout the year.
Where do you source your ingredients? Our menus are designed seasonally so that we can plan and grow as much as possible on the farm that surrounds Thirsk Lodge Barns. Our meat is also sourced from our farm or from local butchers. Other ingredients such as dairy items will be sourced as locally and from independent suppliers as possible.
Do you include meals for the suppliers? You usually need to feed your photographer / videographer during the day, and we can therefore do a plate of the main course for them at a reduced rate of £15pp. For evening musicians, they can help themselves to evening food, and we offer this at a reduced rate of £10pp.
Who will be the Front of House on the day? The Thirsk Lodge Barns team run each wedding and event at the venue, and we will have a dedicated Manager for during your wedding breakfast to ensure a smooth service.
How do you handle leftovers? Due to health and safety, we are unable to save and share leftovers with you after your wedding.
What is your cancellation/postponement policy? The cancellation and postponement policy is the same as the Thirsk Lodge Barns policy. If you choose to cancel your event, any monies paid to The Peckish Kitchen are non-refundable. If you postpone to a year with a higher priced menu you will have to pay the higher priced menu.
Can we bring our own snacks for the drinks reception? We have a great range of canapés to suit all guests, and therefore, we do not welcome crisps or nuts etc. during your drinks reception.
Can we bring our own cake, and can it be served as pudding? Of course you can, and we have some fantastic cake makers we can suggest should you need some help deciding. You can certainly enjoy it as pudding too – we charge £2.50pp to cut and serve your cake with jugs of cream.
When is the final guest count due? Final numbers are asked for three months before your wedding / event date, and this is when we would ask for final food choices too. The invoice for food and drinks is due two months before the date of your event, and unfortunately numbers cannot change after this as food will be ordered and staffing will be arranged.
What about children? Children over 12 years of age are classed as an adult portion. Children from 5 – 12 years of age are charged at £30pp and we serve smaller plates of our main menus for children. For children under the age of 5 you are more than welcome to bring small boxes of sandwiches and crisps for them. Please do not bring nuts on site.
If we want more canapés, how does that work? Additional canapés can be added at £4pp. Please note that this works out as more than one person!
How much is it per person for additional evening guests? We charge £15pp for additional evening guests, or just £10pp if you choose the chip butty option!
Can we choose multiple evening food options? Whilst we cannot offer multiple choices for evening food – if you choose the deep-pan focaccia pizza we can offer up to three toppings, and if you choose the burger then we can look at different filling options, however we would not be able to offer both pizza and burgers on the night due to the additional staffing required and the waste that would incur. It is much safer to have one offering for the whole party, so you also don’t get guests who wanted the burger complaining that they only got a pizza.
Can I tweak aspects of the menu, or take items from the other seasonal menus? Whilst we will do our best to be as flexible as possible for each of our couples, we may not be able to take everything from other menus due to the availability of the produce. But don’t worry – we can always have the chat and will do our best to always be accommodating.
How do you serve vegetarian / vegan guests if I choose a feast-style wedding breakfast? We can either plate their food if you would like, or if you want all of your guests to enjoy the ‘feast style’ then we can simply use a different platter or board for their food. Don’t forget that all the sides will also be shared down the table (many of which are vegetarian and vegan), so they can enjoy sharing these with the other guests too.
What happens next? We will share the seasonal menu available for your wedding a year ahead of your wedding date for you to read (and drool!) over, and we encourage all couples to attend a seasonal tasting evening too. However, you do not have to choose your final menu until three months before your wedding. Please note that we will run through all food options and talk about wine pairing with you at your Planning Meeting which happens 6 – 8 months ahead of your big day!
