Reasons to consider a mid-week wedding

Reasons to consider a mid-week wedding

THE FINANCIAL BENEFITS

Let’s not avoid the obvious; when hiring a venue, the hire prices for mid-week weddings are less expensive than for weekend weddings. If you’re keen to book Thirsk Lodge Barns but budget won’t allow a weekend date, consider a mid-week wedding! We are happy to host weddings on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays.

You could be saving a bit of money for your guests too; hotel room rates are often more reasonable for weeknights as opposed to weekends.

DATES AND AVAILABILITY

It can be frustrating when first getting engaged to find your favourite venues don’t have an available Saturday within your preferred months, or even year!

Popular wedding venues can get booked up years in advance, and prime summer weekends are always the first to go. By opening yourself up to weekdays you will find that you have much more choice on the time of year you’d like to get married, and in often cases can get married sooner than you expected as you do not have to wait years for an available weekend!

Perhaps you’d like to get married on a special date such as the anniversary of your engagement or when you first met, you are much more likely to match dates up when you are not tied to Saturdays.

SECURING YOUR SUPPLIERS

Just like venues, suppliers such as caterers, florists and photographers also get booked up far in advance. By choosing a mid-week date you will have a much better chance of securing your favourite suppliers!

A SMALL AND INTIMATE WEDDING

If you are looking for a more intimate wedding, then a mid-week date might be the way to go. With lower venue hire prices this means the cost per guest is much more affordable than paying weekend prices for a smaller guestlist.

MORE ROOM IN THE BUDGET FOR EXTRA SPECIAL TOUCHES

With a lower venue hire price you may find that you have a bit of budget left over to spend on other things. Perhaps you could book that videographer you’ve been pondering over, hire a photobooth or treat your guests to a cocktail hour!

BUT WHAT ABOUT OUR GUESTS?

The biggest worry couples have when thinking about choosing a midweek date is if their guests will be able to make it. If some of your guests are teachers, then it is best to look at dates within the school holidays however most guests are more than happy to take a day or two off to celebrate such a special occasion.

We often find that guests love the novelty of partying on a weekday!
